Educaring Africa's Malawian partners the Malawi Volunteer Organisation (MVO) offer a range of fun and challenging volunteering projects fixed within the local villages surrounding its base in Namakoma Village, Monkey Bay. Its key projects include education, medical and sports & coaching programs. Volunteers are welcome to sample a number of different projects throughout their stay, however for the sake of sustainability it is generally encouraged that they select one of these projects to focus a majority of their time towards. When available, MVO also offers building & construction volunteering opportunities, and is also developing a number of projects around environment, conservation, sustainability as well as women and youth related projects. Malawi volunteer Organisation offers some of the best volunteer accommodation available in Africa, with an expansive four bedroom, 18-bed house in Namakoma Village, Monkey Bay. The house is fitted with two bathrooms (cold showers), three toilets, kitchen & dining room and a large double living room that opens on to a front yard featuring two undercover outdoor seating areas. The best part about the location is that the whole house itself fronts directly onto the beach of the stunning Lake Malawi. WiFi is not currently available at the house but is accessible at the Norman Carr Cottage further up the beach. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided as part of your package for your entire stay.
The area is also accessible to a number of wonderful tourist attractions, which volunteers are welcome to experience on weekends when they have time off from volunteering. Some of the most popular attractions include the world heritage listed Cape Maclear, Liwonde National Park and Hiking in Zomba or Mulanje. The shores of Lake Malawi are also home to a number of wonderful resorts if volunteers are chasing a relaxing getaway.
