Empowering Mary Chisomo Njanje: A Journey in Public Health

February 7, 2024

At Educaring Africa, we believe in the transformative power of education. It is through education that individuals can break barriers, uplift communities, and create lasting change. Today, we are excited to share a heartwarming story of support and empowerment, made possible by Born Social, a digital marketing agency based in Melbourne, Australia.

Born Social has generously extended their support to Mary Chisomo Njanje, a determined Malawian woman, in her pursuit of a Bachelor of Public Health degree at Lake Malawi Anglican University. This three-year course, nestled in the vibrant landscapes of Malawi, holds the promise of a brighter future not just for Mary, but for her community as well.

The Bachelor of Public Health programme at Lake Malawi Anglican University (LAMAU) is designed to equip students like Mary with the necessary skills and knowledge to become proficient public health practitioners. Covering a wide array of disciplines including Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Social and Behavioural Sciences, Environmental Health, and Health Services Planning and Administration, this comprehensive curriculum prepares students for diverse roles in both public and private sectors.

One of the core objectives of this programme is to address the critical shortage of qualified public health professionals in Malawi. By providing Mary with the tools and expertise needed to tackle pressing health challenges, we aim to bridge this gap and create a healthier, more resilient society.

Mary's journey doesn't end with her graduation. Upon completing her degree, our hope is that Mary will return to her community in Monkey Bay, Malawi, to contribute her skills and expertise to the medical clinic that Educaring Africa has been tirelessly building. This clinic represents more than just bricks and mortar; it symbolises hope, healing, and a brighter future for generations to come.

The support extended by Born Social covers not only Mary's tuition fees but also her boarding expenses, ensuring that she can fully immerse herself in her studies without financial burden. With her meals and school expenses taken care of, Mary can focus wholeheartedly on her education and embrace this opportunity for personal and professional growth.

The journey ahead may be challenging, but Mary is determined and resilient. With the unwavering support of Born Social, Educaring Africa, and the dedicated faculty at Lake Malawi Anglican University, we are confident that Mary will emerge as a beacon of hope and a catalyst for positive change in her community.

As Mary embarks on this transformative journey, we invite you to join us in cheering her on. Together, we can empower individuals like Mary to realise their dreams, overcome obstacles, and create a brighter, healthier future for all.

Education has the power to change lives. And with your support, we can change the world, one student at a time.
